Well done Brett you’ve found it as well.. Are you going to SSDT this Year ? Who is? I hear that Andy Noad & Ian Fortune have submitted entries..be surprised if Scott & Mark Cameron along with Adam Norris don’t go. I hear also that Craig Talbot will be minding Becky Cook on a Sherco. Jan & I are booked as observers again alomg with our french mate Serge. I guesse we’re going to have to work out topic areas here else we’ll be like an Irishmans parliament (similar to some club/baord meetings) all best CW
Hi Frank – well done on getting the website up and running.
Can I take this opportunity to invite the Centre’s trials riders to come over to Swindon on Sunday 10th January for our Brian Freegard Trial. This will be the first round of the 7-round Club Championship (2008 and 2009 Champion being none other than Rob Scott) and will be marked out sensibly and in accordance with what a CLUB trial should be – i.e. nothing over-facing nor unduly scarey. The venue is the Old Station Yard signposted off the Blunsdon to Highworth road – turn off at the Freke Arms pub. Start time is 10.30am. The sections (probably 4 laps of 10 or 12) will be created along the bankings, roots and stream that dominate this venue. You will be most welcome, so do come along if you fancy blowing the cobwebs off the bike and boots.
CW knows how it is with Trials.
I’ll bet observing was a foot freezing business at Cromhall.
For the first time for ages we didn’t get to Tom & Marys New Years Day Trial yesterday – because Asham Woods has been lost as a venue.
The good news was we went for a walk in the sunshine & somehow managed to end up in the Stars in the village for some lunch somehow that seemed quite fun!
The only thing we missed about a Trial was seeing lots of guys making fools of themselves because of New Year celebrations!
Frank
Our trial at Cromhall yesterday went off well. Knowing the ground better than Wooton we were able to set out sections to take a few marks from the best without crucifying everybody else.As usual big thanks to all who stood out and observed; trials would be very different without you. Mark our president and is the landowner is trying to persuade his neighbours to allow us to link this piece of ground with another wood he has. We could then run a 20 section several miles lap trial subject to getting observers to man them. Setting out was a pleasure also as we were “mob handed” we had 10 sections done in an hour and a half between us. It is an old adage that many hands make light work. As it’s the time of year for wild ideas and having re read the above what if..we could lessen the time the observers have to be on station (one by sharing the work..more sections..more observers..less each to do)..then I thought Ah! all that will happen is some riders will still drag thier heels and want all day to finish…so what about a positive encouragement to get on with it…have a time/ lap control with bonus points (subtracted) for keeping up.. not to turn it into a race or a time trial simply to reward good “behavior” If this gets no comment Frank I will assume nobody is reading it. cheers CW
Hi Frank is this live now? and Am I commenting in the right place? Off marking out at Cromhall tommorrow so will miss Mart Bracey’s trial first time in many years. Just for info I.n curently having a right “go” at ACU ..worked up to Gary Thompson now regarding over 50 insurance for trials in Europe. The jist of my grievance is that both Janet & I would need to have around £400.00 worth of medical tests with positive results in order to pay ACU c. £50.00 extra insurance premium in form of international licence. I say this is ludicrous as I can take French competition licence for year for c. 150 euros..I can take one event insurance there for 35 euros…. I can take annual (365 days) of winter sports travel insurance for £25.00 & I don’t know one end of a ski from a sledge. Only progress so far is that he has asked me to confirm status of these events and promised to try to help me! Hope to be a lttle more in circulation in new year all best Chris
