Yes, Yes, I know its Monday! But we were out all day & it was late when we got back in after the Trial we went to! Here are the Wilts Border Salutation Novice Trial Results, The John Stait Centre Championship Timed Trial Regs & the Andy Cheeseman National Sidecar Championship Trial Results etc. etc.

Monday, March 5th, 2012
Theresa Talbot has mailed results of the Wits Border Salutation Novice Trial & says “As you can see we had 9 riders but managed 10 observers so all sections manned!. {See the Results: all those stalwart Observers are named thanks to all of them, we can’t run without them can we?] The weather was very wet and cold but not as bad as the Colmore Cup where Craig, Becky and Ian Fortune were home back by 2.30 as that Trial was cancelled after the start as the sections & the weather became too bad with snow on the ground and the blizzard forcing the trial to be abandoned. So it sounds as if we had the best weather down at Bovey Tracey – where the rain stopped before the start & there was just one shower of 10 minutes or so of hail – but we were up at 05:55 & drove down in two & a half hours of heavy rain & didn’t get back in until 22:00hrs!

Jerry Cross reminds us all that the 2nd Round of the Centre Timed Trials Championship, the John Stait is running on 1st of April, find the Regs here http://www.wellstrials.co.uk/documents/JohnStaitTTApr2012.pdf , & don’t forget the Regs for the www.wellstrials.co.uk/documents/YouthtrialApr2012.pdf which is a Youth Beginners Trial on the same day & at the same venue [Rookham} for classes B,C,D & E only on the same day.

Class E is for electric bikes whose riders will be at least 4 years old on the date of the event & whose birthdays fall between 01/01/06 & 31/12/08, their machine's Engine power is limited to 2bhp at the back wheel. Your slightly older boy or girl ie 'D' class cadets can ride electric bikes with twice the power, 4bhp!

As I said, we were down in Bovey Tracey yesterday where I was National Steward at the 3rd Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British/ACU Sidecar Trials Championship Round run by the West of England Club, with Andy Cheeseman as CofC. Our local interest had Phil Sparkes/Roger Tuck 3rd in Class C - the Clubmans Championship & David Tuck/Steve Chandler & Andy Scrivs'/Martin Lawford 3rd & 4th respectively in  Class B, - the  Intermediate Championship with both crews losing 42 but most cleans prevailed [26 to 24] in the 40 sections total. The Championship Rules for this Series specify a total length of 15 – 30 miles to be covered in one or two laps. The Andy Cheeseman achieved this with a one lap Route comprising 6 Groups with 40 Sections, we had a problem with the Route Marking [it had disappeared in places] but we weren’t alone, at last half the entry arrived at Group 4 without having been anywhere near Group 3 (!) & as usual riding half the Sections took 2/3 of the 6 hour limit. But everyone I spoke to said it had been a cracking event, & with printed Provisional Results available at 17:00hrs half an hour after the last finisher came in, the paperwork was very slickly organised.

See you soon: Frank

Trials Championship Tables after Round 2, Results of NSMSC’s Terry Bunn Centre Championship Timed Trial 12/02/12

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Hello all,

Pete Dury with his usual efficiency has updated the Points Tables after the James Cup, you can click here ChampTables as at 13/02/12 to see them as an Excel file.

The second No Stop Championship Trial? Certainly No Stop is proving a discussion point, the biggest probably being that their are National & World Championship events still running Stop Permitted. I’d suggest that No Stop favours the smoother riders & isn’t so good for ‘point & shoot’ riders?

I watched the Experts through Section 13 & it was cleanable, just the one clean on Laps 1 & 2, but two on Lap 3 – Gary was clean on each lap & Ricky had it worked out in the end going dab dab clean.

It seemed to me that a riders planning needs to get back to the precautionary principle dab or perhaps the long dabbing pivot turn to ensure you don’t stop in your  enthusiasm to clean the Section. So is it just a matter of getting your head to adjust how you ride sections? Time will tell.

Expert winner Ricky Wiggins lost 34 overall with 5 ‘fives’ & nine ‘dabs’ – but only Section 7 wasn’t cleaned but it was dabbed several times by Experts. So yes it was quite a high scoring Trial, but cleans were possible for all riders on all Routes & all riders had cleans on their scorecards when the Results were collated, so challenging yes, but too difficult no.

That’s it for the moment, Frank

Not too long for you we hope, here they are …. James Cup Winner is ….. Ricky Wiggins

It’s been a long old day, some interesting tie breaks to be applied & checked. As usual WWMC want to thank CofC Brian Shuttleworth & Secretary of the Meeting Phyllis Sweeting for their hard work before, during & after the Event. I did wonder if the weather was going to be so dire that we might have to have a contingency for cancellation but the weather was kinder on the day than during the week. Thanks also to Clive Sweeting for computer advice this evening – but any mistakes are ours & ours alone.

You can click here  JamesCup2012 – Results for the Results

No we’re off to do the washing up!

See you at the Wyndham Haines: Frank

ps your Observers today were: Chris Kelly 1, Chris adams 2, Jon Milne 3, Nicola Golding 4, Nipper Allen 5&6, Theresa Talbot 7, Ian Shuttleworth 8&9, Mike Fear 10, Chris Fear 11, Fred Rowcliffe 12, Phyllis 13, Tom Crease 14&15

Here’s the BSSA 2nd Alan Brown TT Results from 05/02/12, & the Frome Wyndham Haines Centre Championship Trial Regs for 23/03/12, & by the way we’ve got several entries in the Scottish

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Hello again! Jan Watkins has sent over the 2nd Alan Brown TT Results click here  BSSA 2nd Alan Brown Timed Trial  Results 5th February 2012 for them.

Mary Crease has sent the Frome Wyndham Haines Trophy Centre Championship Trial Regs which you can click Frome’s Wyndham Haines Trophy  Centre Championship Trial 25th March 2012 here for.

I see Andy Frost has got a ‘first timer’ entry in the Scottish so his previous recconnaisances of the SSDT have convinced him that ‘I can do that’ He’s hoping to ride with Jerry Cross who’s a third timer?. Other Centre notables include Adam Norris as usual & Scott Cameron, I’d guess Mark [Cameron] has put himself on the Reserve list.

I see there’s a strong representation from our friends down the road in SW Centre, RIcky Wiggins, Joe & Mark Baker, George & Rob Pollard, father & son Tony & Peter Rew. Ross & Keelan Hancock & Tony Moulder are there too. Best wishes for an enjoyable week without mechanicals or electricals to all of you.

Hope to see a lot of you on Sunday at WWMC’s James Cup, forty of you have entered so far & CofC Brian Shuttleworth & his team [of two] were out sizing it up today in the cold!

Keep your feet up & stay warm – Frank

Results of the First No Stop Centre Championship Trial – the Avery Cup

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Hi guys,

Here are todays results taken off the Kingswood MCC site Avery Results for 2012

We hope you all had a good day out. Looks as if Gary Marshman has started this new fangled NoStop lark how he finished last seasons old style Stop Permitted Championship – on top with just 4 marks lost. Colin Crease had a relatively bad day with stops in Sections 7 & 11 allowing Kevin Hart the runner up spot on the day with just 9 marks lost.

At the other end of the scale – Youth D class Austin Bartlett topped the entry with 41 m/l, Harry Ridgway was R/up on 75 & Harvey Gilvear was 3rd with 113 m/l. One of these guys was riding his very first trial on a little electric Oset, Harvey I guess? Hope he has along enjoyable time riding in  competition.

It’s bedtime! See you all at the James Cup in a fortnight I hope. Frank
