Todays Border Cup Results [06/02/11] are here for you!

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

Hi Guys & Ladies,

Team Talbot have worked wonders with Results- They are now posted for you.

You may now have a Centre Fixture card, will you all note that although the Mendip Traders, 24th April & the Frome Ron Jeffries, 11th September are not starred in it, they should have been. So BOTH THESE EVENTS ARE Centre Trials Championship Rounds.

I thought the winner today might be on 10 or less. Guess what? Colin, having done the 18:00 – 06:00 shift last night/this morning still came home the winner on just 8 m/l. If work lets him ride many rounds those other guys will have to work hard to usurp his title.

Hope to see you all again next Sunday at the West Wilts James Cup trial

Centre Trials Champs – Border Cup Regs available. Other chatter. Mendip’s Winterhead Results

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Morning all.

The Centre Trials Champs begin next Sunday with the Avery, then on consecutive  Sundays the Border & James Cups so by the middle of next month we may have a feel for how it might go. With Champion Colin Crease maybe less committed than in the past is it time for some-one new at the top? We shall see, perhaps Colin will be able to ride all Rounds, if he does I wouldn’t bet against him. I guesss though that Ben Darch will want to ride all our Rounds & he will push hard to be Champion.

The Centre Enduro Championships have, to be honest, were a bit of a damp squib last year with more several planned Rounds being cancelled due to poor entries or problems with available venues. Factoring in that several “likely lads” were also doing other Championships which means date clashes were a problem – quite apart from the fact that the likely lads supporters who have the knowhow & drive to put on our Centre Events don’t have many spare weekends either I hope you can understand the difficulties. For this year there are only 2 Enduros & 3 H&H’s on the Centre Fixture List & a 2011 Championship is a little “up in the air”. I hope we will resolve this at the next Board Meeting.

Gary Scrivens is getting the Valers website added to the list of links available directly from the ACU web-site. Having had a quick look this morning I notice there are other Centre Clubs which are also not found via ACU. If Clubs want their sites added, let me know & we can get it fixed for you – obviously if Rugby hasn’t been askedyou wouldn’t expect a link would you?

You saw it here first! Eddie Lejeune (& his brothers) confirmed entries for the SSDT! Remember the report we had last year that it was quite likely – well the ballot favoured them. Never been quite sure about Laia Sanz – after seeing the World Champion having her bike kickstarted for her by her Minders, but this year she was best Lady & finished around 45th two wheeler in the Dakar Rally – I know she had a top class mentor [quiz - who was he?] before & during the Rallye Raid but its still a great achievement, & if the reports that she wasn’t credited with all of the time she spent stopped at an injured rider are correct, then that is unfortunate whether or not it would have affected her ultimate position.

Just in! Rob Pike has mailed over the Valers  Winterhead Trial results from yesterday. Slightly disappointing Entry, but fair weather & enjoyable.

That’s it for the moment, see you at the Avery: Frank

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Hello all.

Now we’re in the electronic era it’s easy to discover how daft you are perceived to be.

We are doing our best to cut costs & quite a few [but not all] Board Minutes are now emailed out. I notice that in Decembers I’m quoted as saying there will be T&E Licencing Seminars in February. How would I know what I said? The important thing is that people actually DO read these Minutes as is shown by the fact that  I’ve been asked whether my own [later] mail to Club Secretaries stated different dates  [18th & 25th January] & asking  which is correct.

I’m pleased to confirm they are on 18th & 25th January. Please don’t think I was asleep at the Board Meeting & said the first thing that came into my head!

I wondered if Martin Witt was out with Lee at the Wilts Border Trial on Sunday,  & Chris Wrigley confirms that he was. Good to know he’s around & about as I haven’t seen him since he was in RUH just after his accident. I also noticed Craig Talbot wasn’t in the Results, & Theresa tells me he’s in plaster for a month or more with a broken scaphoid in his left wrist. Thats not good news – lets hope it heals nicely now its immobilised.

That’s all muttering completed for now! Frank

Todays Wilts Border Kington Cup Trial Results are posted! Page order changed!

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Here we are it’s 2011, the start of another year & Lee Hassall made it all look easy by doing 4 laps of 10 Sections at the Piggeries clean! Good ride by Lee I reckon, R/up Becky Cook lost her 6 marks in 3  different sections. I see Lee Witt had a day out, first ride for a few years I reckon. I wonder if Dad, Martin &/or Grandad, Dudley were there to see? Rob Scott was riding the “A” class & I notice Lewis [Scott] was riding too. I reckon it’s a long time since his last ride in the youth classes. 7 or 8 years maybe?

Anyway the Results are now posted for you. We’ve also tried to tidy up the Pages sidebar for you so that the most up to date things are nearer the top where you might look for things if you were new to the site. Frank

Wilts Border Kington Cup Trial will run on Sunday! & Sunday weeks [9th Jan] Swindon First Club Champ series

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Good morning workers – unless you are off until next week?

Good News from Wilts Border the Kington Cup is on for Sunday [2nd Jan]! Their team has been out & about now the weather is a little easier. An ideal way to ease yourself back to normal! We have the Regs up [HINT - look in  Wessex Centre Events 2011 - Regs Available & Entry Forms]

Brett King’s been in touch & says “Hello Frank, I trust you are having a good Christmas. Can you publicise our up and coming Swindon DMC club trials on the centre website please.
The weather has been a nightmare for our sport everywhere, so we are anticipating that a lot of riders are itching to get out with their newly blinged-up steeds. What better than to go to a sensibly marked out Swindon trial??? Details of the trial are as follows:

Sunday 9th January 2011 @ Old Station Yard, Hannington, near Highworth.
Start @ 10.30am.
Signposted off the Blunsdon to Highworth road (Look for the Freke Arms pub on the left and turn left immediately after the pub – go 200 yards towards Hannington – start is on right)
Classes: Expert A, Clubman/Expert AB, Clubman/Inter B, Novice C, YthA, YthB, Over 50, Twinshock
Enter on the day.

We are keen to see more Youth riders at our trials and hence we try to produce sections that cater for all abilities of said age group. As you know, the centre is not blessed with loads of Youth riders, so those that are out there are invaluable. We have a regular but small group that attend our trials, including:
Victoria Payne
Maisie Payne
Ollie Humphris
Bertie Raines
Alec Resek
and more

We’d love to see some more attend though and I hope that you may have a few riders you know who would like to come along. It gets nicely competitive so there is a definite challenge. The sections are all rideable, but never anything dangerous as we want to encourage, not discourage.”

That’s it for the moment: Frank

Here’s the ‘stuff’

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Afternoon all.

We should now have Posted:

The Final Centre Championship Timed Trial Table for  2010 & as Tony Colman says: “Jason Hamblin is the clear winner, scoring well in all rounds. He has also won the North Somerset MSC time trial championship so has done the double.”

The Centre Championship Trials Table after 8 Rounds & as Pete Dury says: “Her’s the latest update after Sunday’s Wilts Border Autumn Trophy. Well done to the Wilts Border team who manage to find something different every time at Draycott.

There have been a few queries about the points awarded to riders with the same marks lost each round. The championship rules (last revised in 2002) state that in the event of ties the riders will be awarded the maximum points with the subsequent points disregarded e.g. joint winners both get 15 points and then 3rd place gets 10 points as normal.

There were quite a few riders in this round that have not been awarded any points due to having ridden previous rounds in a different class. The same applies to a couple of previous Expert class riders that cannot be awarded points riding as B class riders. Once an Expert your only options are the AB class or the O40/O50 class.

If you have any queries or spot any mistakes then please let me know.”

The last BSSA TT results – the 6th Alan Brown on 31/10/10 are available as is the BSSA Phil Sparkes Trophy Trial Regs for that after Christmas thrash around Scars Wood on 27th December.

ps that new variation for Experts in Nippers section, No 2, at the Autumn Trophy on Sunday made you think didn’t it? Bet you are all pleased Becky Cooke saw its potential. Andy Noad more or less faceplanted the vertical face on one lap when the front wheel didn’t lift at all & just ‘stopped’ ,  fortunately teeth & wedding tackle were all unharmed! I did see a lovely clean by Lee Hassall on lap 3 & as Nipper said at the time ‘the difficult bit is doing the same thing next lap” Lee couldn’t!. I missed the only other clean, by Ben Darch, on his 4th lap. Ben had the best aggregate ride on that section only losing 7 whereas Colin Crease & Lee both lost 8.

Phyllis said it was jolly cold for your feet after four hours & reckons some of you Riders need to find friends or family that will come out & Observe so you can enjoy your sport long after us ‘oldies’ can’t be bothered anymore or have keeled over anyway. How about it guys?

See you soon: Frank

Here’s what you are waiting for!

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Yes I know I’ve kept you waiting but we’ve had to destroy a wasps nest in the compost heap today!

So here we go, in a jiffy you’ll have the restricted to Club Bath & WoE ‘Peace Trophy’ Trial Regs for this Saturday – 6th November – Frome Dinner day by the way, & three sets of Centre Championship Trials Regs, the Wilts Border Autumn Trophy for this Sunday 7th November, The Frome Selwood Cup & Novice Trial on 21st November & the Bath & WoE Knut on 12th December posted up for you.

Keep it coming all of you & thanks – so much stuff to get up today that you are going to have to wait a bit to be see & be bored with my selected Scott Trial photos: Frank

Monday 4th October’s Chatter

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Good morning to all,

Delighted that we made the decision last week not to go to Wilts Borders ‘Endeavour’ Trial at the Piggeries – we thought it might be muddy! Anyway we had lots of apples to pick & store!

Theresa has sent out results & we should have them posted here by tea time. The same goes for the Wells Clubs Presidents Timed Trial Regs this coming Sunday, the Southern Experts Regs [5th December at Hound Tor with solo & sidecar classes] & the North Somerset Timed Trial 24th October.

I notice that Jon Tuck & Matt Sparkes are still showing the rest of the trials chair brigade the way in the British Championship. Can they be beaten with 1 round to go?

Update 19:00hrs: The Southern Experts must wait for another day, but the Wilts Border Endeavour Results are up, ditto North Somersets Timed Trials on both 5th September [the RT Keedwell] & 26th September [the Ivan Manning]. The Regs for the Wells Presidents TT are also posted. Haven’t had time to check the links so if you don’t get to them please let me know asap.

Pleased to see the West Wilts Club team in the British Enduro Champs placed 3rd from 7.

Check for more chatter soon: Frank

What’s New?

Posted this morning:

Yesterdays Kingswood Championship Trials Results.

Reminder: Wilts Border “Endeavour” Trial is on Sunday.

Notification of Date  Change for the ‘Valers’ Brockley Cup Trial: it’s been put back a week from 24th to 31st October [so it clashes with Kingswood's 3rd Resticted to Club!].

Regs for the above not posted as Permit No not supplied! – but I think you can take it that both events will be permitted.

Whats New?

Posted this afternoon: up to the minute Centre Trials Championship Tables – thanks to Pete Dury.

Pete says: Colin has moved moved back into the championship lead after yesterdays trial. Otherwise all other class leaders maintained their places.

Well done to Fred Adams on fourth place in his first ever adult championship event [hear hear - Ed.] and to Dad (Chris) on winning the C class (Ian Cobb rode out of class)

Also well done to Rob Hilton winning the AB class – life in the old dog yet eh?

As usual, let me know if I’ve drop any clangers (other than all those five’s yesterday).

Pete then had to update & revise the tables because  – well listen to Pete

I have had to revise the B class points for yesterdays round as I have since received information that Craig Mawlam changed route after lap 1 and therefore the points awarded to him have been removed. All other points scores in the B class have been amended to suit.

In case there are any other queries regarding points awarded in the original update, the following riders were not awarded any championship points -

Craig Mawlam – changed route during trial
Charlie Newman – informed secretary that he would ride out of class by choice
Shaun Sweeting – rode round 4 in the C class
Ian Cobb – rode round 4 in the AB class
Steve Usher – rode round 2 in the AB class
M Tull – rode round 1 in the C class
A Gee – rode round 3 & 4 in the C class

Riders are not permitted to change class mid championship (even if they move up a class)

As a consequence, the winner of the B class was Rob Pitman and the winner of the C class was Chris (the tank) Adams. — Pete

That’s it for the moment: Frank

Do you want the Good news or the Bad news first?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Right: we’ll do the Good news first.

Maisie Payne IS the girls “B” Class National Champion. She has the luxury of choosing whether or not to ride the last Round in the Isle of Wight, but without any inside knowledge, I expect her to ride. Congratulations to her from all in the Centre, it’s very well deserved.

This bit is neither good or bad, as its  info. Becky Cook – who has ‘connections’ with the Centre of course, is currently leading the Ladies National Championship with just her ‘Home’ round in the Isle of Wight to go. Having cleaned up last weekend at Horsforth, where rival Joanne Coles was a no-show, she has a 14 point lead over Joanne but will discard a score after the last Round, so Joanne will be Champion if she finishes no lower than 2nd in the final Round. It’s most unlikely she won’t place first or second, but a DNF? Becky has her points on the board already, so it it will be a nervy day for Joanne I think.

Now the bad news, in spite of all the effort that the West Wilts Club have put into the Hare & Hounds at Farleigh Castle scheduled  for 17th October, their trials & tribulations this season continue. This week a bombshell dropped on the Club when permission to use the land was withdrawn, due to land management considerations entirely unconnected with motor sports. The Club apologises to everyone who had already entered & to all of you that were getting round to it.

Don’t forget the Wilts Border Endeavour RTClub Trial on 3rd October It’ll start at 10.30, entries close at the start –  The Piggeries, Stanton St Quintin, 1 mile from Jct 17 M4 . Contact the Secretary Mrs Theresa Talbot 01249 720342 Please park with consideration for other road users as there will be no parking in the field.

I’ve posted the Results of the BSSA’s Brian Hudson Memorial Timed Trial held last weekend – thanks for those Jan. [see Non Championship Results] & the Regs for their 5th Alan Brown Centre Restricted Timed Trial on 3rd October – Thanks again Jan. [see Regs available]

And I’ve posted the Regs & Entry Form for Kingswood’s 3rd Club Series Trial on 31/10/10

See you tomorrow at Elmington Manor Farm? A Centre Championship Trial remember.

Regards: Frank
