And now for the next lot of Stuff. Wells Championship TT this coming weekend, Errington Cup Trials Champ Round also on Sunday,WWMC H&H Results, Latest Trials Championships Points Tables etc etc

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Now you’ve digested the earlier post this morning we have:

The latest Trials Championship Tables from Pete Dury

The West Wilts Hare & Hounds Results. Thanks to C of C Brian Shuttleworth & Secretary, Tom Gerken, I think all you riders had a good day? All the comments I heard about the event were complimentary. A lot of work goes into these events & our thanks go to the dedicated band of workers before & after the event & to the Travelling Marshals who were mainly Kingswood & WWMC members who were kept busy but mainly I think recovering breakdowns. The only problem I noticed was that 1 of the 2 lanes of timing went down. I checked our instructions for using the transponder system, you are asked to ‘swipe’ your right wrist over the  fixed scanner an inch or two from it. A rider took it into his head to swipe the scanner with what was more like a right hook straight at it, I gather, so that was why it went down, clearly the system failed its. ‘idiot test’, C’est la Vie. Weren’t we lucky with the weather? Ladies soaking up the sun, small children – there seemed to be a creche with all the Lego, toys & reading cards I saw in the pit – good to see Jack [Broadway] & Hayden [I've been corrected how to spell his name , I used to work with a Welshman called Haydn so sorry Ben sorry Abby or should that be Abbie?] Shuttleworth. Won’t seem like 10 minutes before they they are riding themselves!

We hope & intend to be back next year & look forward to seeing you all then! BTW Daryl Bolter was best performance (I would think that wasn’t a surprise?), but Dan Price had an excellent result being R/up

Stet – I havent posted Results as I can’t link to them this morning possibly a site problem.

Don’t forget we’ve got the next Centre Championship Wells Presidnts Trophy Timed Trial on Sunday, so get your entry off to Steve Thorne ASAP. Regs are posted  here & on Wells’ own website. Steve says “The Wells club are holding their Presdents Timed Trial on Sunday 9 October at 10:30am. The venue is Rookham Old Mine Site on the Old Bristol Road near Wells, postcode BA5 3AP. After the timed trial there will also be some sections set out for beginner youth riders. As it’s no longer possible for us to let our kids ride around and play at an event, this will be an opportunity to formally enter them and let them ride some sections. Please note all youth riders must be supervised at all times by a responsble adult or will be instructed to stop riding. This won’t be of much interest to experienced youth riders and will be on a no award basis.  Contact Steve Thorne 07775802273″

I think the Youth Beginners  Trial is a great idea, no cut throat competition but letting newcomers do what they want to do, ride their bikes, in a semi structured way with no pressures, but also within our Rules so that proper Insurance is in place. The only way to get the hang of it is by getting in ‘bike time’ & we all know what a range of ability there is across youth riders of all ages.

Don’t forget the West Wilts Trials Champ Round at Errington Sands is on Sunday as well, & Phyllis is waiting for your Entry!

Well I’ve been busy busy!

Those things I said I had to tell you about! There have been working parties at Farleigh on Wednesday Friday & Saturday & the Event yesterday. Afterwards we had been invited round to Clive for Dinner which was very welcome, then I checked the Results for our [WWMC] event were up – they were when I looked around 10:00pm & I also found there were several notes I need to draw your attention that came in on Sunday evening. Now I’ve got my own essential admin up to date I can make a start.

FROME CLUB DINNER Put this one in your Diary , Mary says

“Hi Frank

Just to let you know our dinner dance will be on Saturday December 03rd at the usual venue at Frome Market, tickets are £18 (a real bargain). Could you put an entry in the gazette for me please. Any one interested please contact me on 01761 435035.

Many thanks”

Only £18:00? That is a bargain, isn’t it the Club is certainly paying you back for your support of their Events at that price, I should ring Mary now.

Now to videos: Fraser Dickin has some footage of the Hawkesbury & says:

I was testing out a helmet-mounted video camera (which is very similar, if not identical, to the one Chris Wrigley has) at today’s trial. I edited and uploaded some footage of me doing the yellow route sections which I’ve put here:

The reason I started at section 8 including some footage of “the off” is here:

I mentioned our International Lady Rider:

About this video:
“Cette première édition a été un vrai réussite sur tous les aspects : Organisation, interzone, tracé des zones, repas !!!”

Frank says: As one of the “bof “brigade I rather liked the background music, can anyone tell me who/what it is?

& in just a moment I’ll have posted the NSMSC Ivan Manning Trophy TT results from 25th September

Further stuff follows in a separate post: Frank

Wilts Border Endeavour Trophy Trial Regs – its’s on Sunday!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Wow, you are spoilt for choice, there is a Timed Trial, a Hare & Hounds & a Trial all going on on Sunday coming!

I’ve just received & posted up the Regs for the Endeavour. Start time 10:30 at the Piggeries Stanton St Quinton, my spies tell me that the dry weather means that there will probably be some sections further up the valley than usual!

West Wilts working party today at Farleigh prior to the Hare & Hounds, youngest member was Ben Shutt & Abby’s little Haydn, quite a little cherub & fast asleep.

See you soon: Frank

ps when I’ve a little more time I need to tell you about Frome’s Dinner/Dance, post the North Somerset TT results from last weekend & point you to some video from Kingswood’s Trial & some from a foreign trial starring one of our lady riders, watch this space.

Nice afternoon at Knapps! Mendips Brockley Cup Regs, its past my bedtime!

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

While I was loading the car I could hear the Public Address at Farleigh Castle & the first of todays practice sessions for the International Vets MX of Nations & then it was slow going up the A46 to get to Kingswoods Centre Trials Championship Round at Knapps on Inglestone Common. There were loads of horseboxes heading towards Badminton for something!

First time we’ve ever been to this venue! Seemed like a good entry in all Classes but with all those people it was still a struggle for the Club to find 10 observers! Please volunteer rather than “disappear” when the signing on Board is circulating. On & off drizzle after the start made things slippy as the Trial went on. I’d guess it will be a low scoring Trial in the Experts class though & concentration might prove to be what sorts them out as it could be difficult to regain the marks lost with any ‘slack dabs’. First time we’ve seen Mark Kemps lad ride, although I gather he pretty keen on Rugby as well. Years ago I would have thought Rugby was much less dangerous that Trials Riding but these days certainly at top level Rugby is more so I think. Some guys weigh twice as much as I do & more & what do they do? They run through equally big guys & something has to give!

Now I’ll sit back & wait to see some Results.

You’ll also find  I’ve posted the Regs for Mendips Brockley Cup Club Trial on 23rd October thanks to Andy Leahy

Not sure that anyone from the Centre has entered the Scott Trial this year but good luck to Ricky Wiggins & George Edyvean.

Look forward to some of you next Sunday at West Wilts H&H  Enduro at Farleigh, & the next Championship Trial at Easterton Sands in a fortnights time Get those entries in to Phyllis asap

As above, its past my bedtime, but I’ve just seen todays Results which I’ll post uo tomorrow for you. My prophecy about low scoring & slack dabs  in the Experts was correct : Gary Marshman was a clear winne on 3m/l but Ben Lovelace, Ben Bowkett, Lee Hassall, Fred Adams & Kurt Brain lost 9,10,11,12,& 13 respectively. Really really close eh!

Frank

Doh! WWMC Regs for 2nd October Enduro & 9th October Trial now posted

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

The Secretary of the Meeting asked me to print off the West Wilts Errington Cup Centre Championship Trial Regs a few days ago, as she’s had one entry for ages . So I went to the Centre website to download & print them. Guess what, they aren’t posted there & neither are the WWMC Hare & Hounds Regs for Farleigh Castle. Checked my emails – don’t see them in there either. Inspiration, look on the Clubs website. Ah there they are, obviously some miscommunication [missed communication] somewhere! Anyway both sets of Regs are now posted.

I’d suggest that you get your Entry to the Farleigh Hare & Hounds off ASAP to Tom Gerken as this will be a pretty popular  Event I reckon. I know October seems a long way away but time will fly!

BTW if you’re close by & want some Victoria Plums we’re picking them now – £1/kilo – in aid of Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley. Great for plum crumble, jam or just to eat raw. See you soon – Frank

What’s New, Monday 18th July

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Hello all,

We’ve added Results for North Somersets’ Smokehouse 2day Timed Trial on 9th & 10th July as 1st Day & 2nd Day inc. the Overall. A Hamblin benefit? Jason was the winner & Mark the runner up

You’ll also find their [NSMSC's] TattooTime Chase Club Restricted Timed Trial Regs for the 13th of August.

That alert about Bike Thieves we put up a few days ago got National Coverage in Fridays TMX I noticed, but be on your guard just in case.

We hear fom West Wilts that both Ian & Ben Shuttleworth didn’t make the second day of the Knighton Round of the British Enduro Championship in Radnor Forest. Ian with injuries sustained when a driver turning right across him & into the drivers side of his van after the first days conclusion, & Ben with mechanical bike trouble. Tyson Maytom-Jones would have been disappointed with his 11th & 12th places.

That’s it for the moment. Frank

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Hi all,

What do we have to say for ourselves this morning?  — Well, we all have to congratulate David Knight on the award of his MBE, – most of us can only dream about having his ability to ride bikes quickly- & must be pleased that his ability & success have been recognised.

We’ve also posted up the BSSA 4th Alan Brown T. Trial Results, the BSSA 2hour Brian Hudson T. Trial Regs & Entry Forms,  the amended N Somerset Weymouth Trophy Results & the West Wilts Hare & Hounds Results.

Remind me to tell you about my conversation with Gordon Jackson some time.

See you soon:   Frank

Chattering is delighted to announce a new generation of Shuttleworths!

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Yes, Ben Shuttleworth is a Dad! Abbie , of course had the difficult bit to do & apart from being a 10 days or so late all went well & young Haydn weighed in about 71/2lbs at 23:30 on Friday night at RUH in Bath. As is the way of things these days little Haydn was home at 2:30am this morning & all are well. We look forward to seeing Abbie & Haydn at events very soon.

Continuing with the future, we’ve just seen the latest picture of our own grandson, William, who now sports two top teeth & a cherubic smile!

Watch this space for further ‘happy events’ announcements later on in the year. We hear there are three more Mums to be!  – Frank
