Centre Trials Championship Points Tables, after Penultimate Round

Hello,  Pete Dury has forwarded his updated Centre Trials Champ Points Tables [see the link below], commenting:

“The 2016 Championship update is attached following Sunday’s Presidents Trophy Trial. With only 7 rounds to be held, only 5 rounds will count towards the positions in each class.

So with only one round remaining the Championship is still a possibility for Oliver Humphries, Lee Hassall or Ben Skinner.

The AB class Champ was decided in favour of Henry Pym at the previous round. A top performance from Henry winning 5 of the 6 rounds ridden.

The B class is now a two horse race between Dean Bines and Pete King with only 2 points separating them although Dean will have to drop a round if he rides the last round.

Zac King Has easily won the Novice class Champ with 4 wins from 4 rides. Well done Zac.

Congratulations to Over 40 class Champ Richard Elliott who won 3 rounds this year and also to Over 50 class Champ Dai Clothier who dominated the Over 50 class all year.

Only one round of the Twinshock class has counted towards qualifying points as we only had 3 riders enter this class during the rest of the season after the opening round. Therefore, in theory, any of the points scorers from round one could still yet win this class!

The last round is on the 11th December with the Knut Trophy Trial kicking off at 10:30am up on Lansdown, Bath.

Cheers: Pete”

Final 2016 Centre Time Trial Championship Tables

Hello all,

Tony Colman has sent across his Final Tables for 2016.

The Trials Class is here: 2016-centre-tt-champs-trials-final-table & the Enduro Class is here: 2016-final-tt-champ-enduro-table

Both Championships were in doubt going into the final Round.

In Trials Andy Frost was leading Jason Hamblin by 1 Champ point, 67 to 66, but when Jason took the last Round from Andy it ended up with Jason on 81 to Andy’s 79. As I mentioned last evening, congratulations go to Champion Jason and to Andy as the oh so close Runner Up. Andy & Jason’s rivalry saw them both ride all 6 Rounds,  Paul Manning rode 5 Rounds to finish 3rd on 34 points.

In the Enduro class, Nathan Newman & Tom Smith both rode 5 Rounds, & after the penultimate BSSA 6th Alan Brown event, both were on 47 Champ Points. The last Round, the NSMSC Ivan Manning T/Trial was won by Gary Newman, who was showing them both ‘how to do it’, but behind him Nathan had bested Tom to be 2nd with Tom 3rd  on the day. That gave Champion Nathan a total of 59 Champ Points with Runner up Tom just 2 behind on 57. Bob Lees who also rode 5 Rounds was 3rd with 29 points.

Thanks to all 3 Clubs running Rounds of the Centre Championship, & their Officials, BSSA, NSMSC & Wells, all you Riders & Tony for Recording the Results.

Todays NSMSC Presidents Trophy Trial Results

Evening all,

Thanks to the smart work of the Results Team: here are todays Centre Championship Trial Results nsmsc-presidents-trophy-271116

Quickly summarising, it was Kurt, Ben & Lee in the Experts with 25,29,32 marks lost respectively. My unofficial Expert Champ update positions reckons Kurt now has 27, but Ollie still has 59, Lee is up to 52 & Ben is up to 50. With the Knut to come it’s still all to play for!

Todays Clubman Expert was even closer, Henry Pym won on 14 with Kevin Hart R/up on 15.

It’s bedtime!

ps congrats to Jason Hamblin who won theTrials class Time Trial Championship last week. We will publish the Final Points Table as soon as it’s available

Royston Claude, NSMSCs’ Presidents Trial, NSMSC’s Ivan Manning T/Trial Results, NSMSC’s Richard Sage T/trial Regs, Bath & WoE Knut Championship Trial Regs, Wells Miller Cup Champ Trial Regs, Frank Mutters

Hello all,

Several of us were at Royston Claude {Roy} Mantells’ cremation at Westerleigh yesterday afternoon. A simple Humanist celebration of Roys’ 91 years life & times. Roy had the last word, having written his own epitaph contained in one of his rhyming ‘poems’. Perhaps you will understand that it was a celebration when I tell you that the last music played was ‘Right said Fred’ We hope it gave comfort to Roys’ widow, Velma, & all his Family.

Turning now to various past & future Events noted in order of submission. Goodness me, we’ve some Regs for a 2017 Event already, I s’pose that means it’ll be Christmas soon?

The Regs & Entry Forms for the first Centre Championship Trial of the 2017 season, the Wells & District “Miller Cup Trial” on 22nd January are here: wells-miller-cup-regs-220117 and here: wells-miller-cup-champ-trial-entry-form-220117

NSMSC’s Ivan Manning Championship Time Trial is reported on by Jerry Walters, who says:

“Morning Frank,

Results of North Somerset Club’s Ivan Manning Trophy Time Trial, held at Malthouse Farm, Chelwood on Sunday 20th November, are attached for the website.

This event was the final round of the 2016 Wessex Centre Time Trial Championship, and as seems to be the norm at this venue, the weather tried it’s hardest to disrupt proceedings. Fortunately storm Angus moved away just before the start, but the course still had to be drastically eased and shortened.

As usual the battle in the Trials class was between Jason Hamblin and Andy Frost, and this time it was Jason who got the upper hand. He lost just 21 marks on observation plus 2 on time to take the class win and overall premier from Andy, who lost 28 on observation plus 3 on time. Kye Steel made one of his rare appearances to take third place losing a total of 53 marks.

In a smaller than usual Scrambles class field, the battle for the win was between Dad and his lad. In the end age and experience proved decisive and Gary Newman narrowly took the win on 87 marks, from his son Nathan Newman who lost 90 marks. Although Tom Smith set standard time, he lost 98 marks in the observed sections which dropped him down the third spot.

Cheers Jerry”

Regs for the NSMSC’s Richard Sage Electrical RTC T/trial on 11th December are here: nsmsc-richard-sage-ttrial-regsandentry-form-111216

Don’t forget the NSMSC Presidents Trophy penultimate Centre Championship Trial is on Sunday – See you there competing or Observing?

The Regs & Entry Forms for the last Centre Championship Trial of the 2016 Season, the Bath & West of England Knut Trophy Trial are here: bath-woe-knut-trial-champ-regs-111216 and here bath-woe-knut-champ-trial-entry-111216

Frank mutters: The last Wilts Border Trial at the Piggeries had 36 Entries a vastly greater number than the previous Event at the Piggeries which had a miserly feeble Entry of just 7 of you. Letting you all into a little secret, the 36 of you have saved Events at the Piggeries, the Club were within a knats’ whisker of giving up on the Venue. You can’t afford to dishearten the Club Officials by not supporting them if you want to keep on having something to do on Sundays!

The Centre Expert Championship is by no means decided as Ollie Humphries, Lee Hassall & Ben Skinner are all still able to be the winner, current Champ Kurt Brain will vacate the Title as he can gain a max of 42 points if he enters & wins on Sunday & again at the Knut, Ollie is leading on 59 but has to finish 2nd or better in the Presidents & the Knut to improve his current points total of 59 [i.e. he could get to a max of 69], Lee on 42 & Ben on 38 can add to their points total at both Events as they’ve both only ridden three Rounds. Ben’s in good Form having won the Hurran last weekend where Lee & Ollie rode as well, so I reckon it’ll be decided at the Knut. If any ‘spoilers’ enter – Tom Culliford ? Toby Martyn? Tom Hooper? it’ll complicate things even more! Three Championship classes are decided already as Richard Elliott, Dai Clothier & Henry Pym will be O40, O50 & Clubman Expert Champions as they can’t be overtaken in these last two Rounds, so congrats to all three.

Its been a busy two or three weeks for us as our Clive is under the weather, i think everything that contributors have sent in has now been posted, but let me know if I’ve missed anything.

Now to start marking the Trials Officials Licencing Seminar Questionnaires!

ps I hear Scott Trial Charity Team rider Barry Roads had his bike impounded – whoops

BSSA – 6th Alan Brown T/Trial Results & Phil Sparkes Trial Regs for 27th December

Hi there,

a couple of BSSA things have held over for a while, the 6th Alan Brown Centre Championship Time Trial results are below, it was really close for the Premier Award, which Andy Fost won, setting standard time with just 3 marks lost in the sections, Jason Hamblin was clean in the Sections but lost 4 marks on time. Tom Smith was best scrambler, only losing 10 on time over the 11laps, but 91 in the sections! Click the links below for the Results & the Regs for that after Christmas Phil Sparkes Trial outing

Centre Trials Champ tables, No S/car Class in NSMSC Presidents Trial, WBorder Autumn Trophy Results,

Good Morning to all.

The current Centre Championship Trials Tables, showing positions before the last two Rounds, the NSMSC ‘Presidents’ on 20th November & the Bath & WoE Knut Trophy on 11th December are here: 2016-centre-champ-tables-as-at-091016   Thanks as usual to Trials Recorder, Pete Dury. As a couple of Rounds have not run, we should [as last year] have a Championship run over 7 Rounds with a Riders best 5 results to count.

The Results of yesterdays Wilts Border Autumn Trophy are here: autumn-trophy-res-061116 Before you ask (!), this Event did not run as a Centre Championship Round, notably, winner Gareth Talbot was clean all day.

NSMSC have revised their Regs for the Presidents Trophy Trial on 27th Nov. The Sidecar Class won’t run – for the very good reason that the final British Championship Sidecar Trial Round is running the same day – and a s we all know the Centre has a very strong presence in the National Championships – its Main Sponsor is the Wessex Plant Hire business whose Director Phil Sparkes is a Member of the Trials & Enduro Committee. nsmsc-presidents-centre-champs-regs-271116

The Board Meeting last week noted the passing of Penny Ludgate, someone well known  in the Trials world although she lived in Yorkshire. Her sons Ben & Sam both rode schoolboy Trials in our Centre when they lived here. Penny became poorly on her way to the Scott Trial where she was due to be Centre Steward. Penny, RIP, you will be remembered. {Funeral Pontefract Crematorium 14th Nov 10:30hrs}
