Wiltshire Times had , as you can imagine a big spread on the Tour of Britain, & what do I read? That ‘Todd Kellett from Yeovil &  Adam Saviour from Trowbridge took the prime viewing spot outside the Swan Hotel in Market Street Bradford on Avon. The friends had cycled from Farleigh Hungerford [!] & took up this position early hoping to see Bradley Wiggins.’ Cheating really, Todd only cycling from Farleigh [it was Vets des Nations M-X weekend remember] & not Yeovil which would have impressed me more. Still his weekend was a good one I reckon as he figured in the Farleigh Results.

Oh, and don’t forget the Kingswood Centre Championship Trial at Elmington Manor Farm on Sunday. See you there?

That’s it for the moment, cooking calls!  —  Frank

Frome Ron Jefferies Centre Championship Trial Results.

Hi guys,

Apologies that these results weren’t posted last night, but my computer was being doctored & I’ve only got it back this evening. See them here, Frome Ron Jefferies 14:0914

In brief, Champion Kurt Brain continued his winning ways on 37 m/l, former Champion Colin Crease was R/up on 72m/l, 3rd & 4th placemen Lee Hassall & Ben Lovelace parted with 80 & 81 marks respectively. Ollie Humphris had a dnf with a rear tyre rolled off the rim by a concussive force. Sole Youth Expert George Marshman lost 89, & interestingly went 1,0,0 in section 12, where Kurt went 1,5,5!.

A rather disappointing entry of just 34 had a good day out of 3 laps of 12 Sections set out  with the help of Jon Bees & Jerry Cross [Thanks Guys it was greatly appreciated]. Another disappointment was that most Sections did not have a dedicated Observer, we thank Colin Hassall, Bob Burt, Nipper Allen & Gary Marshman who all took a Board. Tom & Mary Crease, as ever, were CofC & Secretary & it’s good that Tom felt well enough to take it on again.

I saw Jamie Crease on his little electric GasGas having fun! Meanwhile Phyllis was comparing notes with Richard Elliott having his first trials ride since being injured earlier in the year, & Mark Bean, who we haven’t seen since the WWMC Club Dinner whose hand is now mended well enough to be back riding!

Talking of Observing, I hear that there are a number of runners in the British Youth Championships [all classes] who are becoming disillusioned with either the partiality &/or consistency of Observers. It’s such that they don’t feel the best rider always wins, sometimes they feel it’s the rider who is luckiest with the Observers decision. Bad news indeed.

On a more positive note the Ladies Trial of Nations team of Emma Bristow, Joanne Coles & Becky Cook, yes I know she’s Becky Talbot now, were on the top step in Andorra pipping the Spanish Ladies on the most cleans tie breaker last Saturday. Becky was unable to pull off the possible in the last Ladies World Round [if she had won the Round she would have been Champion] held last Friday & Emma Bristow who did win has become World Champion for 2014. Sundays Mens Trial des Nations saw us [Dabill/Brown/Wigg/Sheppard] Runners up to the Spanish.

That’s it for the moment: Frank

Zach Wajtknecht- Track Racing Champ again! Wells Presidents Trophy TT Regs

Hello! I hope we’ll have a good turnout for the Ron Jefferies Centre Championship Trial at Weston Town Lane tomorrow!

See you there I hope, it’s good to see the Frome Club up & running M-X & Trials again

Zach Wajtknecht took the Senior Youths Track Racing Championship on Saturday 30th August & then became the youngest ever 250cc British Track Racing Champion on the Sunday, going unbeaten through his race program. Easier said than done I’m sure, & he beat ex-champions Adam Shipp and David Knowles who took second and third respectively. Quite a weekend, & another large feather in Zach’s hat.

Jerry Cross reminds you that the Wells Centre Championship Presidents Trophy Timed Trial will run ar Rookham on 5th October. Click here to find the Regs:  Wells Presidents TTrial 051014  or find them on the “2014 Wessex Centre Events: Regs & Entry Forms” Page

News from the Garden, WWMC Errington Cup Regs, Frome M-X, Internationally.

Hi guys,

I’ve had to step in & take over all domestic duties as Phyllis has her right forearm in plaster [picking plums, stung by a wasp, shot back down the steps & overbalanced & fell over = distal radius fracture] so as I was driving round Castle Combe in a parade of 45 Saabs, when the phone went it was in my zipped up fleece pocket on the back seat! So I couldn’t take Phyllis’ call! & that was another visit to RUH A&E on Saturday, as Clive was admitted to A&E on Wednesday, kept in Thursday & discharged on Friday. So it’s been & will continue to be, busy busy busy.

Good news that the Frome M-X, the first Meeting run by the new team with Senior Officials Pete Bergum, Alan Mountstevens & Nick Steadman went well with >200 riders. I’m looking forward to seeing British Championship Sidecar Cross there again. Next year perhaps?

On the Trials front, the Centre Champ events begin again with Frome’s Ron Jefferies Trial at Wanstrow on  Saturday week, 14th September, Regs here Frome Ron Jefferies CChamp 140914  the Kingswood Hawkesbury on the 28th September [Regs awaited] & the West Wilts Errington Cup Trials at Perrys in Bath on 12th October Regs here WWMC Errington CChamp 121014.

I’m not sure if I mentioned that youth rider Tom Culliford has gone International, but good to seea Wessex Centre Rider ‘flying our flag’  in age group World Championship events. Not good to see that Richard Jenkins may have broken another, the same one?, collar bone at the Swiss M-X GP, but Dan & Joe Millard had a better day.
